Who we are

Fraser Valley Hay Brokers Inc. has been servicing Canadian farmers with quality and affordable hay for over 40 years.

Roger Vanderzwan, started from the young age of 14 doing custom hay stacking full time in 1981. He still remembers loads of hay coming in that first year from Washington covered in ash from the Mount St. Helens volcanic blast. With the relationships he developed over the years with the dairy and horse farmers of the Fraser Valley, he soon transitioned into hay sales. Roger is still today a very hands on type, personally delivering and unloading hay and bedding to our customers.

In more recent years, FVHB has transformed into a true family run operation. First Ben Vanderzwan (Roger’s son) joined Roger in 2016 stepping into the role of sales and service. Shortly after that, Leah Vanderzwan (Roger’s daughter) joined the team also in sales and service but soon settled into the role of book keeper and admin. In recent years we’ve been fortunate to hire Eric Doubleday who does a fantastic job doing local deliveries and customer service. And last but certainly not least, we’ve recently acquired Cristy Vanderzwan (Ben’s wife) who is a marketing/social media pro to help us spread the good news of our wonderful hay.

Over the years, we have diversified our services in a handful of ways. Not only do we supply quality, affordable hay for cows, horses, sheep, goats etc., we also distribute some other quality products including SPF and Fir Wood Pellets for bedding and burning, premium Bagged Shavings, and Simply Straw - a compressed bagged straw for bedding or gardening.
